First Birthday at Toronto’s First Post Office

PAL-SAC celebrates first birthday!

Have you ever wax-sealed a letter written with a quill pen? This Sunday is your chance, as Pal-Sac celebrates it’s first birthday this Sunday Sept 18 between 5 and 7pm at the Toronto’s First Post Office!

Thank you for making this past year so great. Because of you and your letters, PAL-SAC has inspired people to start chapters in their communities worldwide and many more to simply write to their friends and family. If you cant’ make it on Sunday 5-7pm, skip to the bottom for after party info!

We will hear from Janet Walters, Director/Curator at the TFPO, who can answer all of your postal-related questions, past, present, and future. We’ll eat cake, socialize, and celebrate!

There will be writing stations set up for you to pen a letter. Paper, black walnut ink, quill pens, and all you need to wax seal your letter will be provided. TFPO is a museum as well as a full-service post office, so don’t forget to bring your addresses!

TFPO is Canada’s oldest surviving purpose-built post office. Located at 260 Adelaide Street East, it’s right around the corner from St. Lawrence Market, which means you can swing by the Sunday Antique Market beforehand!

There is no charge for this event thanks to TFPO, but donations will be collected. All proceeds go towards archiving efforts and programming at TFPO.

Light refreshments will be served; feel free to bring little snacks to share!

As there are limited writing stations and we’d like to know how much cake and material to prepare, please RSVP at info [at] pal-sac [dot] com before noon, Friday Sept 15.

Everyone is welcome. You don’t have to be a Pal-Sac regular to come!

AFTER PARTY: We’ll move to Betty’s at 240 King Street East after 7pm. Please come!
